NCFE is recognised as an Awarding Organisation by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, Qualifications Wales (Wales) and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) Regulation in Northern Ireland.
The regulator’s role is to secure the quality and standards of regulated qualifications which are offered by the Awarding Organisations it recognises. NCFE has a rigorous approach for the development and quality assurance of regulated qualifications developed which can be used both within and outside of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Role of NCFE as an Awarding Organisation
NCFE researches, designs and manages the quality of its portfolio of qualifications. Colleges, schools, employers and other training providers work with awarding organisations to ensure that the qualifications that they teach are delivered to a consistent standard in the UK and overseas.
NCFE will assess the college or training provider to ensure they have everything in place such as facilities, processes and people to deliver and assess NCFE qualifications to the required standard.
NCFE will award the certificates to successful learners on completion of their qualification.
NCFE offer over 500 regulated vocational qualifications in the following sectors:
- Education and training
- Hospitality and catering
- Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
- Management & leadership
- Skills for work & higher study
- Sport, exercise and fitness
